Raptors
Hawks, eagles, falcons and the Osprey, which is a family of one. A pair of Red-tailed Hawks has lived in most of New York's big parks for years, and the Cooper's Hawk, once a bird of deep woods, moved into the city's parks in the last twenty years to hunt the feeder birds.
The Osprey eats almost nothing but fish and is built for it in ways the other raptors are not: closable nostrils for the plunge, spiny pads on the feet for grip, and an outer toe that swings backwards so it can hold a fish with two toes each side and carry it head-first into the wind.
