A cluster of small, thin-stemmed mushrooms on a rotting log, orange-yellow stems and brown caps fading paler towards the rim - a good match for Xeromphalina, a genus that fruits exactly like this on decaying conifer wood. Pinning it to species from a photograph is not really possible. Several look near-identical and separating them needs a spore print.
What is certain is the log's job. A fallen trunk like this can go on feeding a forest for a century after it comes down, and fungi are most of how that happens.
