Osteospermum, native to southern Africa and grown in British borders mainly for a trick the wild species doesn't have.
This is a "spoon" cultivar, bred so each ray petal narrows to a thin claw before opening into a broad tip, leaving gaps that give the flower a pinwheel outline instead of a solid disc. The blue centre is a ring of disc florets, each one a complete, separate flower in its own right; a daisy head is a cluster of hundreds of them, not one flower.
