A dark-flowered form of Queen Anne's lace in the August border, bred for the near-black burgundy of the florets rather than the wild plant's white. The wild plant is the carrot, escaped and gone feral across every roadside in the East.
Sold under names like 'Dara' or 'Chocolate lace flower', and increasingly common in cutting gardens for exactly that colour, which reads almost black from a distance and only resolves into deep maroon up close.
