Insects

Other insects

The insects outside the big familiar groups: the ancient, odd orders like the fishflies and dobsonflies, whose larvae live for years under the stones of clean streams and whose winged adults appear for a few days in summer, usually near water.

An adult fishfly lives for about a week and hardly eats. Everything that mattered happened in the water.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.

Every photograph comes with notes on what it is.
