Bindweed after rain

Hedge bindweed, still holding the night's rain in its own trumpet rather than shedding it. The flower works like a funnel as much as a display.
A small dark beetle has climbed in after whatever the flower is offering; I couldn't get a clean enough look to name it. Bindweed is a gardener's enemy and a bee's friend, and the roots can go three metres down, which is why it is never gone.
