Wild onion

A tight head of small white, star-shaped flowers on bare stems. The six free tepals, the six stamens with yellow anthers and the green, three-lobed ovary sitting up in the middle of each flower make it an onion rather than one of the brodiaeas that share the look.
Which onion is harder, since a naturalised Neapolitan garlic looks much like the native white-flowered species here in April. A crushed leaf would settle it in a second; the smell is the family's signature.
