The Theatre of Epidaurus

Built in the fourth century BC and still used for performances every summer. The stone risers climbing the hillside are original, not a reconstruction. The acoustics are the famous part: a coin dropped at the centre of the orchestra carries clearly to the back row, because the limestone seating scatters low-frequency noise while letting speech through.
The theatre was part of a much larger sanctuary to Asclepius, the god of healing, alongside baths and dormitories where the sick came to be treated. Drama was one more part of the cure, not a separate attraction.
