The Olympics in June

Mid-June, and still deep snow along the tops. The forested ridge in front stands at a few hundred metres; the peaks behind are only a few kilometres away and several thousand feet up.
That compression is the character of the range. It rises from sea level rather than off a plateau, so the distance between rainforest and snowfield is very short.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
