The Forsyth Park Fountain

Cast iron rather than the marble it is often mistaken for, installed in 1858 and ordered, like a lot of American cast-iron fountains of the period, straight out of a manufacturer's catalogue rather than designed for the park.

The same design turns up in at least one other American city, and it is modelled on the fountains of the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Every St Patrick's Day the city dyes the water green.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
