The bridge at Fordwich

A brick humpback bridge over the Great Stour, under willows still holding their yellow at the end of December, long after everything around them has gone bare.
The river was navigable from the sea in the Middle Ages and Fordwich was the port for Canterbury. The Caen stone for the cathedral came up on barges from Normandy and was unloaded at about this point, then hauled the last few miles by cart.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
