Still water for once, mirroring a lone spruce and the shoulder of a High Peak behind it.
The Adirondacks are not part of the Appalachian chain, despite sitting among them geographically. They are a separate dome of very old bedrock, still slowly rising, and the range takes its name from a Mohawk word for the Algonquian-speaking people who once lived here, traditionally translated as "bark eaters".
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
