Sky over the Finger Lakes

Nothing in the frame but sky: a break in a bank of cumulus with the sun behind it, cloud edges lit and the rest in shadow. The Finger Lakes make their own weather. On a summer afternoon the lakes warm the air over them, the air rises, and cloud builds and breaks through the day - the same reason the vineyards on the slopes do so well, since the lakes also hold enough warmth to keep the frost off in spring and autumn.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
