Seljalandsfoss in winter

Sixty metres off the edge of what used to be the coastline. The cliff runs for miles along the south of the island, and everything below it was sea until the glaciers retreated and the land, relieved of the weight, rose.
There is a path behind the fall, which is the reason people come. In late December it was sheeted in ice and closed. The water does not freeze because it never stops moving, but everything it touches does - the spray builds the pale crust hanging off the rim and the mounds in the foreground, which are boulders under a winter's accumulation.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
