Hungarian Secession, the local branch of Art Nouveau, reached its peak in Budapest in the years either side of 1900. This corner tower with its folk-patterned frieze and copper dome is a typical example of the style applied to an ordinary apartment block rather than a landmark.
I have not been able to identify the building. Budapest's inner districts carry enormous numbers of these facades, largely from a single boom after the 1896 millennium celebrations, and many are unlabelled enough never to make a guidebook. That is the reason to keep it here.
