The sea stacks are what is left of a coastline being taken apart faster than almost any other in the country. The rock is soft, the Pacific swell arrives with nothing in its way to slow it, and headlands are cut off into islands and then worn down to nothing.
The driftwood is the other half of the same story - whole trees brought down the rivers out of the rainforest and thrown back up the beach. The cobbles underfoot are ground from the stacks themselves.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
