Roaring Brook Falls

A multi-stage cascade in early July, the flow still carrying a good share of spring snowmelt from higher up.
The rock is anorthosite, the pale, coarse-grained stone that makes up the core of the High Peaks. It is unusually rich in the mineral plagioclase feldspar, which is what gives so much of this bedrock its faintly bluish-grey cast - and the same rock, as it happens, that makes up the bright highlands of the Moon.
