Road and rail through the notch

A road and a rail line threading the same narrow valley, both barely visible under the canopy. Filling the frame with nothing but forest removes any sense of scale, which is the point. Those are full-grown trees, and the whole hillside is one continuous cover.
New Hampshire is something like eighty per cent wooded, the second most forested state in the country, and almost none of it is original. It was cleared for sheep in the nineteenth century and grew back when the farms failed.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
