Petit Piton at dusk

One of the two Pitons that stand either side of Soufrière: volcanic plugs, the hardened lava left behind after the softer rock around them eroded away. Petit Piton is the sharper and slightly the taller of the two, despite the name.

The town lights below and the harbour show how close the mountain drops straight into the sea. There is barely a shelf of flat ground between the slope and the water.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
