Palace Square
St Petersburg · 28 September 2017

Carlo Rossi's General Staff Building, put up facing the Winter Palace. A single front close to six hundred metres long, curved around the square rather than squared off against it, so that the two buildings read as one space instead of two.
The arch carries a bronze chariot and six horses, raised to mark the defeat of Napoleon.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
