A Leopard Lacewing on the netting of the butterfly house at Carlsbad, a butterfly of South and Southeast Asia, from India to Thailand, where it lives at forest edges and in gardens and is common enough to be a familiar sight.
The saw-toothed white border and rows of black spots on burnt orange are typical of the lacewings, a genus popular in collections for exactly this high-contrast pattern. The white patch at the forewing tip makes it a Leopard rather than a Red Lacewing, which has none.
