Douglas fir and cedar hold the frame while everything deciduous goes over. The yellow is poplar and maple. The dark spires behind are what this forest looks like for the other ten months of the year.
The Pacific Northwest gets a long, wet, drawn-out autumn rather than the sharp one the east coast gets. The colour arrives weeks later and leaves far more slowly, and late November is about the end of it.
