Lake Bled from above

The classic view, from the steep little hill on the western shore. Twenty minutes almost straight up through the trees, and most people going up are carrying a tripod.

From here the shape of the place is obvious: a glacial basin with the town along one side, the castle on its crag, and the island sitting almost exactly where a photograph would want it. The Julian Alps close the valley behind.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.

Every photograph comes with notes on what it is.
