The island carries a pilgrimage church and its bell tower; the crag on the right carries the castle, which has stood there in some form since the eleventh century and is among the oldest in Slovenia. Cloud still on the Karavanke behind, at the end of August.
The lake is glacial and fed in part by warm springs, which is why people swim in it.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
