Kinkaku-ji

The top two floors are covered in gold leaf, and the pond in front is Kyoko-chi, the mirror pond. The reflection is not a bonus. It is the point, and the garden is laid out to deliver it from exactly this side.

The building is a reconstruction from 1955. A novice monk burned the original down in 1950, an act Yukio Mishima later turned into a novel.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
