Iwasuge Falls

Iwasuge Falls, a broad curtain rather than a single drop, spread wide across a low rock shelf and framed by the dense green of the beech and maple forest the stream runs through. A slow shutter has turned the water to cloth. The falls are in the hills of northern Nagano, an area of hot springs and heavy snow, and the forest around them is at its densest in late August, a few weeks before the leaves turn.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
