Iceplant on the headland
Coastal areas Northern California · 24 April 2025

The cove from a step further back, cream and yellow iceplant flowers filling the immediate foreground.
It flowers prolifically and holds moisture well enough to outcompete most of the native coastal scrub it displaces, which is why it is as much a conservation problem here as it is a photogenic one. Volunteers pull it by the acre every winter, and it comes back.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
