Headland, looking north
Coastal areas Northern California · 24 April 2025

A grassy headland dropping in stepped cliffs to a rocky point, hills receding along the coast into haze - a rare clear stretch in a trip of fog. The steps are old shorelines. This coast is rising, pushed up by the same fault movement that shakes San Francisco, and each terrace was a wave-cut platform at sea level before the land lifted it clear.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
