Fernleaf Yarrow
Achillea filipendulina
Fernleaf Yarrow · Brooklyn Botanic Garden · 17 June 2026

Fernleaf yarrow in the June border, the tall, saturated-gold species from the Caucasus and Iran that most garden yarrow cultivars derive from.
Each of these tight, flat-topped clusters is hundreds of small flowers packed edge to edge, a growth habit called a corymb that gives pollinators a wide, level landing pad. The more familiar knee-high white and pastel forms sold simply as "yarrow" are usually a related species or hybrid, less architectural than this one.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
