An Egyptian Goose on an ornamental pond at Fairchild in February, not native to Florida and not a true goose either. It is a bird of the rivers and lakes of Africa, and the Florida population descends from escaped and released captive birds that have grown into an established feral colony over the past few decades.
Taxonomically closer to the shelducks than the geese. The ancient Egyptians thought it sacred and painted it on tombs, which is where the name comes from, and in England it has been feral in Norfolk since the 1700s.
