A succulent rosette, red-edged where the leaf margins catch the most sun. Not hardy through an English winter, so almost certainly grown in a pot and brought out for the summer. The red is sunscreen: echeverias make the pigment in strong light to protect the leaf, and a plant kept indoors goes plain blue-green. Mexican, and named for Atanasio Echeverría, the botanical artist who drew the plants for a Spanish expedition in the 1790s.
