Echeveria in flower

An echeveria sending up a wiry red stalk hung with small bells in coral and yellow, unremarkable next to the leaves - which is usually how it goes with succulents. In Mexico the flowers are built for hummingbirds, which is why they are tubular, red and held well out from the rosette on a stem. In an English garden nothing here has the tongue for them, and the plant sets no seed.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
