Dunraven Bay

Alternating bands of limestone and shale, laid down roughly 200 million years ago and tilted since, exposed along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast at low tide.
The shale is soft enough that the sea has carved the foreshore into the same ridged pattern as the cliff. The layers are so regular that a geologist can count them like tree rings, each band a cycle of the sea rising and falling over the same shallow shelf.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
