Bald cypress in winter, bare of leaves but still hung with Spanish moss, the blackwater underneath still enough to double every trunk.
Ebenezer Creek is a true blackwater stream, stained the colour of tea by tannins leaching out of the swamp's own leaf litter rather than by mud or silt. The water is clear, just dark, and slightly acid, which is why so little grows in it and the reflections are so clean.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
