Cloud over the strait
San Juan Islands · 16 June 2021

A single cumulus building against a wall of thinner cloud, with a low island of Douglas fir and cedar closing the bottom of the frame.
The San Juans sit in the rain shadow of the Olympics, which is why the archipelago is drier and sunnier than the Washington coast a short way south - and why a sky doing this much on a June morning is worth stopping for.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
