Cathedral Rock at dusk
Sedona · 21 March 2025

Cathedral Rock, Sedona's most photographed formation and its most recognisable silhouette.
The deep central notch between the two main spires is what gives it the name, read by early visitors as a gothic facade rather than the sandstone fin it actually is. The whole thing is a remnant: a slice of the plateau that once covered the valley, left standing when the rest washed away.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
Every photograph comes with notes on what it is.
