Castle above the valley
Near Sigüenza · 28 April 2018

I have not been able to name this village with confidence. Somewhere in the hill country near Sigüenza, in the old frontier zone between Christian and Muslim Iberia, where a ruined watch-castle above a cluster of stone roofs is a completely ordinary sight.
That is really the story of the whole province. Guadalajara's countryside is dense with small fortified villages exactly like this one, built and rebuilt across several centuries of a shifting border, most of them now this quiet.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
