Casting a net

A cast net, thrown open by the wrist and the weighted rim so it lands as close to a full circle as the throw allows, then hauled back drawing the edges shut around anything inside.
It is subsistence fishing rather than sport, worked from the beach at first light or, as here, at dusk, for whatever is running close to shore. The technique is older than any written record of it and turns up in nearly every fishing culture on earth, thrown the same way.
