Butte and yucca, sunset
Sedona · 20 March 2025

A butte at sunset with a banana yucca's blade-like leaves catching the last warm light in the foreground. Yucca and red rock are as much a fixed pairing in this country as palm trees and a beach elsewhere - the plant thrives on the thin, dry soil the sandstone breaks down into, and each species of yucca depends on a single species of moth for pollination, a relationship neither could survive without.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
