Breaking on the rocks
Los Angeles · 8 November 2020

A jetty catching the swell head on, backlit by a low autumn sun. The plume goes up in the split second the wave meets rock rather than sand - all of the water's forward energy turned straight up because it has nowhere else to go.
The tanker on the horizon is a reminder that this is a working coast as much as a scenic one. The ports either side of the city handle a large share of everything that arrives in the country by sea.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
