A densely furred bee working a vetch flower upside-down in the dune scrub at Arverne, the thick brush of orange hair on the hind legs carrying the pollen. The build is that of a digger bee or a long-horned bee, both solitary, nesting in burrows in exactly this kind of sandy ground; a confident genus would need a clearer look at the face.
The pale purple, pea-shaped flowers belong to a vetch, one of several similar climbing legumes common on disturbed coastal ground. Without a clear look at the leaflets, which species is not certain.
