Five broad white petals - sepals, strictly, since anemones have no true petals - around a ring of yellow stamens and a green dome of pistils at the centre, with no calyx showing between them.
That combination is an anemone rather than the wild rose or bramble the shape first suggests; a rose or a bramble would show hairy green sepals between the petals, and the stamens would sit on a rim rather than a mound. Which anemone is harder from this framing. Canada anemone, a native that flowers here in late May, and the snowdrop anemone of the perennial borders both look like this from above.
