Anaga ridgeline

The Anaga massif, the oldest volcanic rock on Tenerife at somewhere near seven million years, eroded since into a maze of knife-edge ridges and near-vertical gullies.
The exposed rock spine at centre-right is typical of the range, too steep and thin-soiled for the laurel forest that still covers most of the slopes around it. Anaga was a separate island once; Teide joined it to the rest.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
