An angel at Bonaventure

A mourning angel weathered enough for moss to have taken hold in the folds of the stone drapery, eyes lowered toward the tomb rather than out at whoever is looking. The pose is the Victorian convention: grief shown as an angel too absorbed to notice you. The stone is marble, which weathers fast in the damp Georgia air, and the moss and lichen will have the details within another century.
