An African Blue Tit among flowering tree heather in the laurel forest of Tenerife, the Canary Islands' own tit, only fairly recently split out as a full species from its European relative. It is a bird of the island pine and laurel forests, and the tree heather here is one of its favourite feeding trees.
A black cap rather than the mainland European Blue Tit's blue one, and a much deeper yellow underside. The name is for North Africa, where the same species lives in the Atlas cedar forests, and the Canary birds are its island outpost.
