A village church, Dolomites
Dolomites · 11 September 2025

A parish church and its neighbouring farmhouses gathered at the base of a valley, cloud lifting off a jagged summit behind them.
The pale scree fans below the rock are avalanche and rockfall tracks, kept clear of trees by how often they slide. The village is built where it is because the fans stop there, and the church spire is the tallest thing for a reason: it is the one building everyone agreed should be seen from every field.
Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
