A stone hut by an alpine lake

A small stone shelter at the edge of a still tarn, a twin-horned peak doubled in the water behind it - very possibly Lago di Federa, though I wouldn't swear to the name without the trailhead sign in frame.

Water this calm at altitude usually means early morning, before the day's wind has had a chance to start. The huts are for the cattle and the people who move up with them in summer, a transhumance that still runs on the old calendar.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
