A row of facades, Pest

Four buildings, four different states of repair, standing shoulder to shoulder - the ordinary condition of central Pest rather than an exception. A great deal of the district was built fast in the same late nineteenth-century boom and has weathered at very different rates since, depending on what happened to each building under four regimes and who has had the money to restore one.

The pockmarks on some of this stonework, when you get close enough, are shrapnel scars from 1944-45 or from the 1956 uprising, left unrepaired more often than not.

Birds, insects, plants and other wildlife, mostly from Brooklyn, with some from further afield.
